Interested parties are informed that the induction of European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Bodies which constitute Greece’s participation in the European network, within the framework of the Invitation “Development of Network for European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHS) funded through the “Digital Europe” Programme” for up to 50% of funding, has been completed.
The Invitation has an overall Budget of €10,358,074.59, covering all of Greece. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to cover the remaining amount of the eligible EDIH budget from the ERDF in concert with the “Digital Europe” Programme. All projects under the invitation have a duration of 36 months.
More specifically, the following European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) were included within the framework of the Invitation:
SmartAttica-AtHeNAI: Comprising 15 partners coordinated by the “DIMOKRITOS” NATIONAL CENTRE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, the EDIH SmartAttica-AtHeNAI aims to develop into a focal point for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Greece with the ultimate objective of improving the Digital Maturity of Greek enterprises, especially SMEs and state bodies at all levels. Its thematic focus is on the sectors of Energy and Environment, Supply Chains and Mobility, as well as Culture and Tourism, which together represent over 50% of Greece’s GDP and are crucial drivers of the country’s development. Concurrently, these three directions are compatible with European and international actions in pursuit of green, sustainable, digital development.
The hub is based on existing clusters and EU-wide initiatives, making it a valuable instrument for the support of priority policies in Greece. Smart Attica mobilises powerful infrastructures and facilities, from 5G to HPC to the entire NCSRD smart campus, where digital solutions of all sectors can be co-developed, analysed and tested in practice.
The Action has an overall budget of €4,987,186.07, of which €3,264,794.07 has been provided by the ERDF.
smartHEALTH: Consisting of 10 partners coordinated by the FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY, the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) smartHEALTH is a one-stop service aiding the digital transformation and supporting Greek enterprises and state bodies active in the health services sector. SmartHEALTH provides access to consultants with specialised technical knowledge as well as advanced infrastructure for enterprises to perform “try-before-you-invest” experiments. The hub also provides auxiliary support services, such as financing consulting, as well as training and development of skills vital to a successful digital transformation.
Concurrently, smartHEALTH’s primary objective is to encourage industry (SMEs as well as midcaps) and state bodies both in Greece and abroad to adopt Artificial Intelligence, High Performance Computing and Cyber-Safety, increasing the competitiveness of Greek enterprises and enabling the public sector to provide even better services.
The Action has an overall budget of €3,622,378.00, of which €1,811,189.00 has been provided by the ERDF.
GR digiGOV-innoHUB: The EDIH GR digiGOV-innoHUB, consisting of 16 partners coordinated by the NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURES FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY S.A., aims to develop an ecosystem of innovation in digital governance through support for digital skills and innovation capabilities of SMEs and public-sector organisations, to map, adopt, utilise and procure innovative technologies and services associated with digital governance.
The hub will constitute the organisational focal point for all projects undertaken by the NIRT towards the digital transformation of governance in Greece, serving as the “overlying architecture” for services and processes through gov.gr and the Citizens’ Service Centres (KEP) and utilising the ongoing development of the National Registry of Administrative Public Services. This Digital Innovation Hub is expected to strengthen the culture of digital transformation of public-sector organisations and SMEs while also contributing to the development of innovative public services adapted to the demands and digital skills of public service stakeholders, from end users (citizens and SMEs), to service providers, to technology providers (established tech companies and newly established enterprises).
The Action has an overall budget of €5,821,600.36, of which €3,182,091.36 has been provided by the ERDF.
DIGIAGRIFOOD: The EDIH #DigiAgriFood, consisting of 6 partners coordinated by the SPECIAL ACCOUNT FOR RESEARCH FUNDS OF THE DEMOCRITUS UNIVERSITY OF THRACE, aims to bolster the digital and green transition of the entire agri-food value chain, generating tangible benefits for citizens, SMEs and the public sector. It specialises in artificial intelligence technology, the “internet of things”, as well as advanced Digital Skills development services, directly contributing to the goals of the programme “Digital Europe 2021-2027”.
More specifically, the hub contributes to the achievement of the EU common climate and environmental goals as defined in the European Green Deal, including climate neutrality by 2050, bolstering the resilience of EU industry and increasing energy autonomy. To achieve these objectives, the #DigiAgriFood hub aims to utilise five “one-stop-shops” together with ten “antennas/spots”, all expected to function as service and communication points for the hub’s objectives, covering the entire geographical region in which the hub is active to ensure direct interaction with the target groups. A main goal of the hub is to facilitate exchange of know-how and successfully develop synergies between partners at specific stages of the project.
The Action has an overall budget of €4,200,000.32, of which €2,100,000.16 has been provided by the ERDF.
