The hubs are expected to play a vital role in the “Digital Europe” Programme, which aims to aid enterprises, citizens and the public administration in adopting digital technologies. The primary goal of the hub is to give industry actors the impetus to adopt digital technologies such as High Performance Computing (HPC) at a greater scale, enabling them to increase the competitiveness of their goods, production processes and services.
The hub aims to contribute to the digital and ecological transformation of Greece’s plastics and packaging sector and the establishment of a dynamic, open ecosystem where stakeholders will be able to communicate, collaborate, acquire skills and respond to industry challenges and market needs through open innovation, experimentation and co-development processes.
The overall budget for the Act amounts to €5,997,885.00

SYNERGiNN EDIH: The Digital Innovation Hub SYNERGiNN EDIH will operate in Western Macedonia, providing digital innovation services. The region is likely to experience structural unemployment and job insecurity due to the abandonment of local lignite mining. Greece’s National Energy and Climate Plan for the region aims to focus on the Environment and Energy, enabling diversification and development. The joint venture will establish SYNERGiNN EDIH to guide the use of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber-Security, Internet of Things and Big Data, making the most of the local know-how in the Energy and Environment sectors.
Energy is vital to the plans of SYNERGiNN EDIH, as Western Macedonia boasts a wealth of human resources with knowledge of the sector. In addition, it will operate a cutting-edge waste treatment plant funded by the EU. The members of SYNERGiNN EDIH possess experience in such diverse fields as smart networks, predictive maintenance, process optimisation, energy management, Industry 4.0, circular economy, bio-economy and smart cities.
The overall budget for the Act amounts to €4,196,647.00
