A technical hybrid workshop on the Financial Instruments of the ‘Competitiveness 2021-2027’ Programme was successfully held on 17 March 2022 at the Titania Hotel, in the context of the NSRF 2021-2027.

By Financial Instruments we mean financing provided either through equity and risk-sharing financing, loans and guarantees on favourable terms, as well as other similar combinations.

The technical meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Development and Investments, the Managing Authority of EPAnEK, as well as the EC’s DG Regio and the Hellenic Development Bank. At the opening of the event, the Special Secretary for the Management of ERDF & TC Programmes, Mr. Georgios Zervos, Mr. Nasos Sofos, Programme Manager European Commission, DG Regional & Urban Policy, Mr. Theodosis Sampaniotis, Policy Analyst, DG REGIO, European Commission and Ms. Angeliki, Fetsi, head of the Managing Authority of EPAnEK each gave a short address.

Having reviewed the successful use of the Financial Instruments to date and the significant experience gained, Mr. Zervos stressed, among other things, the role they will play in the next programming period and how they will contribute to strengthening entrepreneurship and the Greek economy as a whole.

Mr. Sofos referred to the European Commission’s active support of the financial instruments and the cohesion policy’s importance in Greece’s long-term development.  Finally, Ms. Fetsi underscored the importance of the technical meeting and of the partnership and exchange of know-how required between the agencies and officers working on the planning of these tools.

In the context of the meeting, DG Regio officers described critical issues of interest for the financial instruments, presented important case studies and clarified interesting points by answering any questions raised by participants.
