The process of electronic submission of applications for funding under the Action ‘Start a Business’ through the Integrated State Aid Management Information System concluded on Tuesday, 30/06/2026 at 15:00. A total of 2,815 applications for funding of an overall public expenditure of €62,273,364 were submitted.
This Action seeks to activate human capital by bolstering self-employment and developing new business initiatives that contribute to increased employment. The beneficiaries of the action are primarily young people with specialised training, with entrepreneurial skills and intention to participate in sustainable and modern sectors (e.g. ICT, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, Tourism etc.). Special focus was given to business activities which lead to the creation of new, sustainable jobs.
Specifically,
– 1,976 applications for funding, with a Public Expenditure of €43,100,200, were submitted in the Less Developed Region Category (Northern Aegean, Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, Central Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Western Greece, Crete, Western Macedonia, Ionian Islands, Central Greece, Peloponnese).
– 839 applications for funding, with a Public Expenditure of €19,173,164, were submitted in the Transition Region Category (Attica, South Aegean)
Out of all the applications, 2,338 (83%) concerned enterprises under establishment while the remaining 477 (17%) were submitted by newly established enterprises.
The duration of the aid may cover a period of continuous verified operation of twelve (12) or eighteen (18) months from the date of commencement of business activity [i.e. at least two (2) milestones/semesters of verified operation from the date of registration with the IAPR].
The Action is co-funded by the EU European Social Fund (ESF+) of the EU under the ‘Competitiveness’ Programme (NSRF 2021-2027).
