This initiative seeks to develop or produce critical technologies and innovation in the field of state-of-the-art technology, clean and resource-efficient technologies and biotechnologies and to address shortages in the workforce and skills which are vital for all types of quality jobs to support those investments. The aim is to bolster critical technology value chains and related services by capitalising on opportunities and achieving green and digital transition objectives, ensuring the Union’s dominance and strategic autonomy and promoting the competitiveness and sustainability of industry within the Union, including businesses in the defence sector.
This relates to supporting businesses and collaborating with each other and/or with the research community to create a critical mass that strengthens the technological base and international presence in STEP sectors. Investment opportunities in highly specialised areas will be utilised to showcase know-how centres with international reach.
