New Action “Bilateral Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Greece and Germany”

The new Action “Bilateral Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Greece and Germany” has been published.  The Action aims to strengthen the extroversion and competitiveness of the research and innovation system through the development of co-operations between research organisations and enterprises of other countries. More specifically, the Action aims to promote and bolster the collaboration between research organisations and enterprises in Greece and Germany, which employ highly educated scientific personnel. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is the competent authority for Germany.

The Budget for the Action amounts to €4,000,000

The Action is co-funded by the EU European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and with the participation of the Hellenic Republic.

Potential beneficiaries of the programme will be Enterprises as well as research organisations. More specifically, the Action is addressed to existing enterprises regardless of establishment date which intend to implement research and development projects focused on the sectors included in the Invitation within the framework of the National Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021-2027 (ESEE). The Research Organisations are Bodies such as universities and research centres-institutes, technology transfer organisations, innovation intermediaries, and digital or brick-and-mortar partnered research bodies. Regardless of legal status (private- or public-law entities) or funding means, the primary objective of these bodies must be the conduct of basic independent research, industrial research or experimental development or the widespread dissemination of the results of said activities through teaching, publications or knowledge transfers.

The Action is also open to the following joint ventures:

  • Private operators (enterprises of all sizes),
  • Public agencies (research and technological bodies, universities, research centres, institutes and their laboratories) and
  • Other operators as defined above, from both countries.

Proposals must include at least two collaborating bodies (including the Coordinating body) from the Greek side, i.e. one (1) research organisation and one (1) SME.

The maximum funded budget for submitted project proposals is €500,000. For proposals under the intervention area “horizontal actions”, the maximum funded budget must not exceed €175,000.

The aid intensity will be from 25% to 80% The aid intensity of beneficiaries’ research and development projects will be determined by the following: a) the specification of the research and development category for each section of the project (industrial research, experimental development); and b) the size of the enterprise (micro-/Small, Medium, Large).

Applications for funding are submitted exclusively through the Integrated State Aid Management Information System (iSAMIS) using the iSAMIS standardised Funding Application Form.
